EXPLORING LONDON

Various Days.

This group, now in its second year, goes from strength to strength and has about 100 members. It is a semi-independent group for people who enjoy visiting places of interest in London and as we use public transport (train to London and bus in London), there is always a certain amount of walking. The trips are organised by group members and we restrict numbers to about 16 on each trip. As well as being educational, the trips are sociable and very enjoyable. We arrange 2 or 3 trips a month and issue a programme each term.

In the last year we have visited a variety of places including the Royal Courts of Justice, BBC Broadcasting House, Royal Albert Hall, Apsley House, Hampstead and Keat’s House, the Museum of London, Canary Wharf and the Docklands Museum, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Southwark Cathedral, Fishmonger’s Hall, the Olympic Site  and the London Wildlife and Wetlands Trust at Barnes.  In addition to visiting places such as the above, we also look at significant places and buildings while travelling around such as City Hall, Postman’s Park and some of the City Churches, all of which are of historic interest. There are lots of interesting places to visit and members are encouraged to help organise trips or walks. The more people are prepared to be involved, the greater the variety of trips we will be able to have.
